Optimization of Cable Conduits
Fraunhofer ITWM
Several cable conduit profiles have been improved for the TEHALIT Company. The stiffness of the cable conduit was increased without requiring the enlargement of the cross-sectional area or any additional material input. The optimized cable conduits demonstrate both greater torsional stiffness and a greater resistance to bending when the upper and lower surfaces are compressed. Transport and wall mounting is simplified. The optimized cable conduit subjectively demonstrates greater stability, which is a major sales argument. The deformation of the cable conduit under the load of the cable is less compared to the non-optimized profile
Original geometry (outlined in red) and optimized geometry (in color) for the lower half of the profile of the cable conduit: The equivalent stress is shown in color. The black lines show the FEM network.
Plastic strain on a cable conduit under torsional load: The equivalent stress in N/mm^2 is shown in color.
