Analog Insydes Newsletter No. 2, December 18, 1998
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Analog Insydes User,
please find below the latest information concerning Analog Insydes(tm)
for Mathematica(r).
1. Analog Insydes at MathSource
===============================
MathSource, the electronic library of Mathematica-related materials
maintained by Wolfram Research, Inc., now contains the item
"Analysis and Design of Electronic Circuits with Analog Insydes"
in the category "Applications/Engineering/Electrical". You can access
the Analog Insydes page on MathSource using the following URL:
www.mathsource.com/cgi-bin/msitem
New demo notebooks and supplemental programs posted on the Analog
Insydes web site will also be made available via MathSource. However,
our web site is likely to be updated more frequently.
2. Patch for NDAESolve.m
========================
A patch for Analog Insydes' transient solver NDAESolve is now available
on the web at
www.itwm.uni-kl.de/as/products/ai/patches.html
Revision 1.16.2.5 includes the following changes:
+ Improved speed due to more efficient evaluation of Jacobians.
+ NDAESolve now returns the symbol $Failed instead of the string
"$Failed".
+ A bug in step size control that allowed steps to become larger than
MaxStepSize was fixed.
+ NDAESolve and NDAESolveDC now accept negative starting values for the
integration variable (required sometimes for parametric analyses).
3. Tips and Tricks
==================
- DXFGraphics/CSDFRead:
If you receive DXFGraphics::syntax error messages when trying to import
circuit schematics using DXFGraphics on a UNIX system then check whether
your DXF file is a UNIX or a DOS text file. If it is a DOS file with
CR-LF line breaks you need to convert it to a UNIX file using the
dos2unix command, or use FTP in ASCII mode to transfer the file. The
same applies to CSDF files you want to import using CSDFRead.
- Importing other vector graphics formats than DXF
If you need to import vector graphics into Mathematica from a program
not capable of writing DXF files directly you might be lucky if your
program can produce PostScript output. In that case, you can use the
free software utility "pstoedit" (e.g. Version 2.6, available on many
anonymous-FTP servers) to convert your PostScript file to a DXF file.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 1999,
