The manifold aspects of supply-chain management are among the most complex challenges that industrial companies are faced with. While on the one hand global supply chains and just-in-time delivery permit to reduce purchasing, stock-keeping and shipping costs, the supply chain must on the other hand be sufficiently robust against unavoidable fluctuations of e.g. transport times, so as to avoid costly production shutdowns due to unplanned supply shortages.
We help companies with the set-up, extension, and both tactical and operational tasks of supply-chain management. Starting with mathematical modelling of existing and/or planned supply networks, we develop suitable methods and algorithms, and finally create highly customized software tools. These focus on interactive decision support in order to find and evaluate good trade-offs between the two abovementioned goals cost reduction and robustness within the respective decision space, which for example is the location and size of inventories.
