Further information about the Fraunhofer Solution Days 2020 to 2021 can be found here.
On October 26 - 29, 2020, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is addressing four topics of high relevance to the innovative strength of Germany and Europe:
Health. The digital economy. Systems and mechanical engineering. Mobility.
In all four areas we focus on achieving a global competitive advantage through innovation and integrated solutions. Our aim is to secure the technological sovereignty and resilience of the economy in Germany and Europe. We remain a driving force even in crises and provide answers to the question of what makes a society more resilient. You can benefit from our know-how and our demand-, market-, technology- and industry-oriented research.
The departments »Image Processing« and »Materials Characterization and Testing« of the Fraunhofer ITWM are represented at the event. They will present their tool for virtual image processing for inline surface inspection as well as their terahertz measurement technology for non-destructive testing.
Get in touch with us at the virtual trade show: visit our exhibits virtually and exchange information with our experts in live chats. Follow interesting presentations on current technology highlights and significant solutions.
With the framework »Virtual Image Processing« the Fraunhofer ITWM presents a tool for simulation and planning of image processing systems, which takes into account the requirements of today's fast moving modern production. Because not only the production machines have to react flexibly to new requirements, but also the subsequent visual inspection of the products in the context of quality assurance. The exact setup of a visual inspection is time-consuming and then usually only suitable for one product. The new framework of the Fraunhofer ITWM provides tools for planning optimization to enable a flexible setup of image acquisition systems. The tools used are Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning and Robotics.
Terahertz metrology is a technique that uses electromagnetic radiation at frequencies in the terahertz range, allowing materials such as plastics, ceramics, paper, fiber-reinforced composites or similar non-metallic materials to be inspected for internal defects in a non-destructive manner. The Fraunhofer ITWM has comprehensive terahertz competence in all relevant techniques and systems. Users from all industries can obtain advice and support from the TeraTec Application Center with regard to the optimization of their production processes.
