Winter School: Computational Geometry

At the end of November, the Winter School of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern on the topic of »Computational Geometry« will take place here at Fraunhofer ITWM – a workshop for students of mathematics in advanced semesters and post-doctoral students.

Among other things, there will be an info tour through the Fraunhofer ITWM as well as an info session in the division »High Performance Computing«, especially about our parallelization framework GPI-Space, which is used for the parallelization of complex algorithms of symbolic algebraic geometry. This will be moderated by our colleague Dr. Mirko Rahn. On four seminar days, the participants will also be taught in short lectures by well-known professors from different universities:

  • Gavin Brown (University of Warwick)
  • Alexander M. Kasprzyk (University of Nottingham)
  • Vladimier Lazic (University of Saarland)
  • Frank O. Schreyer (Saarland University

The main topic of the event will be the introduction to the next generation open source computer algebra system OSCAR, moderated by Prof. Dr. Wolfram Decker (TU Kaisereslautern).
