In the online event series »TexTalks«, you can find out first-hand which research projects are currently advancing the textile industry and who the players behind the projects are. 

Our colleagues Dr. Julia Orlik from the »Flow and Material Simulation« department and Dr. Walter Arne from the »Transport Processes«department will give a presentation on »Added Value of Simulation for the Textile Industry: Process and Product Optimization and Design Possibilities for Self-Folding Textiles«.

In the first part of the lecture, process simulations for spinning processes will be presented. This will be followed by an analysis of the finished product and the effective mechanical properties (bending, tension, compression) for the textile structures produced will be calculated using the “TexMath” software tool developed by the Fraunhofer ITWM for simulating technical textiles. The tool can also be used to simulate textile-reinforcing hoses, their strength and service life.
