Distributed optimization algorithms for strategic planning of global supply chains

The project, which is funded by the Rheinland-Pfalz Cluster of Excellence "Dependable Adaptive Systems and Mathematical Modelling (DASMOD)", deals with the design of multinational supply chains. In particular special focus is given to:
- modeling production and distribution networks of international companies by means of a mixed integer linear model
- including economical aspects such as transfer prices, tax rates and duties in the mathematical model
- representing the complexity of different types of supply chains by a single generic dynamic model
- developing efficient heuristic methods for determining the best possible network configuration with respect to facility location, procurement, production and distribution of various goods
