Doctors assume central responsibility for the medical care of patients in various clinical departments. Their working hours must be planned during ongoing hospital operations in such a way that they meet both staff availability and medical care requirements – while at the same time taking job satisfaction into account. However, established personnel planning systems often reach their limits when it comes to this complex task.
In our project »PEP«, we are developing mathematical models and methods for the staff scheduling of anaesthetists in hospitalsfor the University Hospital of Heidelberg.
