Technical Textiles and Nonwoven

Modelling, simulation and optimization of the material behaviour of technical textiles and nonwovens are our core competences in this area. Our know-how consists in modelling and simulation of all possible technical textiles, i.e. warp and weft knitted, spacer fabrics, woven and nonwovens (e.g. made of stapled fibers, filaments, plastic (PET, PP, PA) or natural fibres (cotton, leather)).

We simulate their nonlinear thermomechanical properties: tension, bending, compression, visco-elastic, creep behavior and fatigue using homogenization and dimension reduction methods, reducing the problem complexity. In addition, we use simulations to evaluate the air permeability, acoustic absorption, moisture behavior or absorbency of textiles and nonwovens for any compression or deformation state.
