Coating Thickness Measurement – Precise Measurement, Better Coating

Practical Seminar for the Industry

Many materials are specifically coated for protection or finishing purposes, with several layers often being applied in succession. The use of materials for this coating must be checked promptly with regard to resource conservation and functionality.

Our experts for material characterization and testing present the latest measurement technology in action: In our workshop, we demonstrate live non-contact methods for coating thickness measurement and discuss possible applications for early process control for your industry – from the automotive and aviation industries to medical technology.

You are welcome to bring your own samples! After the seminar, you will have the opportunity to carry out initial measurements on your samples together with our experts.

Presentation of the basics and relevance of the topic
9:15 o'clock – 10:15 o'clock: In-Depth Look at Optical Metrology
Presentation of various methods such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), hyperspectral imaging (HSI) or interferometry, applications and available devices
10:15 o'clock – 10:45 o'clock: Coffee Break
10:45 o'clock – 12:00 o'clock: Introduction to Terahertz Technology
Explanation of techniques such as terahertz time domain spectroscopy (TDS), electronic and photonic FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Waves) – including insights into practical applications and an overview of the corresponding devices
12:00 o'clock – 13:00 o'clock: Lunch and Snacks
13:00 o'clock – 14:00 o'clock: Live Coating Thickness Measurements in the Laboratory
Participants will gain insights into the practical implementation of coating thickness measurement using the methods presented
