The event, part of the »Window to Innovation« series which taking place in the 42kaiserslautern, focuses on the technology that drives Kaiserslautern and the world forward every day – whether in space, at the supermarket, or in the car. Four regional companies will discuss their work on cutting-edge developments. In collaboration with the Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern (SIAK) e. V., visions and ideas for the city will be presented.

As one of three technology ambassadors, Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel will be on site alongside Prof. Dr. Arnd Poetzsch-Heffter from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and Frank G. Froux, founder and CEO of matelso GmbH. Since 2006, Kaiserslautern’s technology ambassadors have volunteered to serve as a bridge between science and industry in the region. The very first ambassadors were Prof. em. Dr. Helmut Neunzert, a mathematician and founder of the Fraunhofer Institute for Technical and Economic Mathematics (ITWM), and computer scientist Prof. Dr. Jürgen Nehmer.

Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel wants to raise the profile of Kaiserslautern’s innovative strength: »I was away for 16 years and came back from Göttingen – it wasn’t an easy decision at first, but after two weeks it was clear that it was the right one. Many people from Kaiserslautern often apologize for their city, but that’s not necessary at all! There are so many great people here and, above all, innovations that are used worldwide. Here at Fraunhofer ITWM alone, we’re developing software solutions with international impact – from mathematics in radiation therapy to the CDTire tire simulation. We need to make these examples much better known. I’m looking forward to discovering more innovations from Kaiserslautern, compiling them, and sharing them with the wider world«.
