Fraunhofer ITWM as Employer

Reason Why

Our main task is the transfer of research results in the field of mathematics to our partner's practical applications. Our claim of aspiring to provide a direct benefit to the economy and society is a part of our self-image and our mission.

Join a Technology Leader

Our clients appreciate our algorithms, software products and skills at modeling. ITWM carries out projects for high-tech and low-tech companies, in small and medium sized enterprises as well as major corporations – regional and international.

An Employer Experiencing Growth

Since our establishment in 1995, we have successfully completed industrial projects with an order value of approximately 212 million euros (almost 300 industrial projects annually) and publicly funded projects valued at more than 135 million euros. High economic earnings combined with a strong research focus form the basis of our sustained success and continuous growth (Data Status end of 2023).

Important Preliminary Research

To a large extent, we carry out our own preliminary research in applied mathematics. Since 2000, in cooperation with universities, we have supported numerous PhDs and university professorships (habilitation). The results of these activities form the basis for the innovation that characterizes our projects and products.

At Home Throughout the World

We maintain cooperative research agreements with foreign universities and research institutes. Foreign researchers regularly visit out institute. Our staff is active as members of science boards or involved with the publication of professional journals.

Rooted in the Region

The outstanding connection between Fraunhofer ITWM and Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) as well as with Kaiserslautern University of Applied Science in matters of research and academic training ensures a close proximity to current research subjects, especially, in applied mathematics. In cooperation with RPTU's Department of Mathematics, we operate the Felix-Klein Center for Mathematics and the associated Felix-Klein Academy as a platform for joint research projects and a variety of school, scholarship, training, and networking programs. It provides a forum for collaboration with other universities and industry.

Positive Working Environment

Our horizontal structure with self-responsible departments and an efficient central administration ensure flexibility and uncomplicated policies and procedures. The good working environment in addition to mutual respect and recognition contribute to the high level of employee identification with their work and overall great commitment.
