KIDA-KON 2025

AI for Research in Food, Agriculture and Environment

The KIDA-KON (AI and Data Accelerator Conference) is the third specialist conference of its kind and is dedicated to the application of Artificial Intelligence in research on food, agriculture, and the environment. The two-day event will take place at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries in Braunschweig.

The aim of the conference is to bring together experts from science and government agencies to discuss the challenges and potential of implementing artificial intelligence in agrifood research. At the same time, it offers young scientists a platform to present their research results and network with the professional community.

We are also contributing our latest research findings to the discussion: In the »KI-WOOD« project, we are working with the Thünen Institute of Wood Research in Hamburg to develop software for the automated recognition and classification of wood species – with the aim of supporting global species protection through the reliable identification of protected woods.

As part of this, our expert Dr. Henrike Stephani, deputy head of the »Image Processing« department, is presenting a poster on the topic of »How Can an AI System Be Trained to Distinguish Between Softwoods with Very Similar Characteristics«.
