The Grand Challenges 2026 conference focuses on challenges in virtual vehicle development. In individual sessions, experts from industry, research, and software development present their work and strategies.

Our team from the  »Material Simulation« department is on site to present our research on the simulation of Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC).

SMC is a versatile material made of glass or carbon fibers and resin, which is used particularly in the automotive industry, but also in many other sectors. The orientation of the fiber bundles is crucial for the realistic representation of this material, as it significantly influences the strength and quality of the component.

Our new simulation solution enables realistic prediction of this fiber orientation, thereby supporting the analysis and optimization of production processes.

Our expert Dr. Jörg Kuhnert from the »Grid-Free Methods« department is on site at the stand of our sales partner scapos AG to present our software »MESHFREE«.
