Once a year, the Felix Klein Academy organizes an autumn school for Felix Klein scholarship holders [only available in German]. Supported by mathematicians, students spend the week learning how to solve problems using mathematical modeling and computer simulations. At the end of the week, the groups present their results to the entire group.

The teams are made up of math students from different semesters. Their task is to translate a real-world problem into a mathematical one. They evaluate the model they develop and check the solution for its relevance. Participants were able to choose in advance between two projects with different thematic focuses.

The two project groups are supervised by doctoral students from Fraunhofer ITWM:
