Researchers from the »System Analysis, Prognosis and Control« and »Image Processing« departments are on site to present exciting topics.

Our course will help you gain a deeper understanding of the image processing workflow for industrial solutions. We cover the basics of image processing, including image enhancement, image restoration, image segmentation, and image analysis using ToolIP.

The QBN WG QCand A session brings together experts from industry, research and innovation to discuss use cases and algorithms in quantum computing as well as the path to fault-tolerant quantum systems. The Tire Technology Expo is the central European conference and trade fair for tire manufacturing technologies. Our colleagues from the »Mathematics for Vehicle Development« division are representing our institute on site with a short presentation on the basics of »CDTire«.

The JEC World trade fair brings together companies, start-ups and experts in the field of composite materials. Participants can find out about applications in various industries and expand their networks. Experts of the Fraunhofer ITWM will be presenting the exhibit »Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung von Verbundwerkstoffen« (Non-destructive Testing of Composite Materials) at the Fraunhofer joint booth 6C89.

ECCA and DigiPass are organizing a workshop on the Digital Material and Product Passport (DMPP) for pre-coated metals. Our expert Dr. Peter Klein will lead a workshop.

On March 8, International Women's Day, we are inviting 42 women from the world of research to share their inspiring experiences. The Embedded World Exhibition and Conference is the industry meeting place for the embedded community, leading experts and industry associations. A team from the »High Performance Computing« department and the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) from the »Design of Microelectronic Systems (EMS)« department presents our AI system »Neural Architecture Search for Embedded Applications (NASE)« at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's joint booth.

ModVal 2025 is the 21st edition on modeling and experimental validation in the field of electrochemical energy technologies. Our colleague Jan Lammel from the »Flow and Material Simulation« department presents a poster.

The Spring Conference of the German Physical Society (DPG) is a scientific event that deals with current research topics in condensed matter and related fields. Our expert Dipl. Phys. Joshua Hennig from the department »Materials Characterization and Testing« presents under the title »Characterization of SiC Epilayers with Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy«.

Our colleague Esther Packullar from the »Communication« team is on site at the IFiF conference »Innovative – Excellent – Visible: Women in Science, Business and Society« and, together with Manja Mai-Ly Pfaff-Kastner from the Fraunhofer IWU, is giving a presentation on the book »Female Researchers in Focus – We Create Change«. In addition, Regina Böckler, Central Equal Opportunities Officer at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, and her deputy Ruth Asan will provide information about the »BestChance« award.

The aim of the event is to present the latest applications and methodological approaches in quantum computing through scientific presentations and stimulating discussions, and to promote collaboration between researchers and industry representatives. Our colleague Dr. Pascal Halffmann from the »Financial Mathematics« department is part of the panel of experts and provides insight into the topic »Quantum Computing for the Unit Commitment Problem – Results from the EnerQuant Project«.

The international conference »PARTICLES 2025« focuses on particle-based methods in engineering and applied sciences. Our experts from the Department of »Transport Processes« and our colleague Jelena Zaninović from the Department of »Image Processing« are on site to present their research.

EAGE Digital 2025 brings together experts from geosciences, engineering and data science to offer technical sessions on digital topics. Companies can present innovative technologies and digitalization opportunities in the energy industry and meet decision makers. Mario Fernandez from the division »High Performance Computing« is giving a presentation on »Residual Moveout Correction with Deep Learning Models«.

Our department »High Computing Performance« initiates and organizes a user group meeting at Fraunhofer ITWM to talk about topics related to C++ programming and the associated tool environments (e.g. compilers, creation tools). We welcome the expert Dr. Max Sagebaum as speaker. He presents a lecture entitled »Introduction to ccpfront – A New Syntax for C++ – And Compile Time Regular Expression Generation«.

MESHFREE can be used to simulate a variety of situations as it efficiently adapts to moving geometry elements such as agitators of mixing devices or the movement of free surfaces. In the training we give an overview of the tool and show how the software can best support your requirements.

Our experts present »KI4KMU-RLP« and a software for synthetic images as well as lectures on digital twins in machine vision.

The RailDresden 2025 conference is dedicated to the modeling and analysis of rail operations. Our head of institute, Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel, is on site as a keynote speaker with a presentation on the topic of »Sustainable Passenger Rail Transportation«.

There are many career opportunities at our institute that have so far mainly been taken up by men. We want to change that! That's why we open our doors on Girls'Day and invite girls to get to know exciting professions in male-dominated fields. Our experts present projects and insights into the everyday life of female mathematicians, while a rally offers the chance to win something and get to know the institute better.

The Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) promotes scientific work in various fields.
