The award is the most important prize awarded by the society and recognizes a scientist every two years for exceptional contributions to the development of the field of »Operations Research«.

Award of the Sparkassen-Stiftung Kaiserslautern
Tania Jacob was honored for her outstanding master thesis at the 39th award ceremony of the Sparkassen-Stiftung Kaiserslautern. In the Department of Computer Science, she worked on the problem of detecting anomalies in time series as early as possible and before they occur.

GAUSS Young Scientist Award
Dr. Simon Schnürch, formerly working in our department »Financial Mathematics«, has received a Young Scientist Award for his dissertation »Mortality Modelling: Machine Learning and Mortality Shocks«. This is dedicated to an alternative for improving existing mortality models, namely the introduction of a Machine Learning method into the modelling.
