In 2023, electrical engineering will once again be held in Dortmund. At this trade fair for the electrical trade and industry, everything revolves around the key topics of building technology, energy technology and industrial technology.

Our experts Dr. Benjamin Adrian and Marvin Jung from the »System Analysis, Prognosis and Control« department will be on site to provide information on »Smart EDGE Devices for Implementing Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance« at a joint action area called »«. There will also be a presentation around the topic AI in the control cabinet, focusing on »real-time condition monitoring«, »predictive maintenance« and »optimized energy consumption«.

Artificial Intelligence in the Control Cabinet

We will be using a demonstrator on site to show how artificial intelligence (AI) can be installed in the control cabinet of machines and systems. The aim is to provide companies in production and maintenance with simple solutions for monitoring and forecasting machine conditions. The implemented AI processes run in common edge devices (IOT gateways, DAQ converters, IPCs) on the DIN rail and convert acquired sensor signals into easily interpretable and monitorable information.

On the demonstrator, we will show various analysis procedures using a sensor-monitored industrial fan, which check the current operating status for unusual effects that indicate misconfiguration, damage, or degradation.

On this basis, maintenance windows can be better planned, downtimes avoided and unnecessarily high energy consumption reduced.
