Workshop Quantum Computing

Research into quantum technology is developing rapidly. Quantum computers are already in use and promise a disruptive leap in development in many industries.

The Quantum Computing workshop offers an opportunity to talk to business, science and politics alike. Find out which possibilities and offers are already available today and which future applications can be of strategic value for your company. Start successful projects: Fraunhofer invites you to form consortia for the upcoming national and international calls for proposals.

The workshop is divided into three blocks:

  • Industry Pull: Disruptive opportunities for sectors such as the financial sector, insurance, automotive and others
  • Quantum Software & Algorithms, incl. AI, blockchain and bachine learning
  • Quantum Hardware, incl. qubit technologies and quantum memory

We, the Fraunhofer ITWM, are participating in the event with a presentation by Dr. Michael Bortz, head of the department "Optimization – Technical Processes", entitled "Optimization with Quantum Computers".

The talk will focus on the potential of quantum computing for solving optimization problems. He will address variation methods, quantum parallelism and mixed quantum ensembles. Promising applications are, for example, the description of chemical reaction kinetics, discrete optimization problems and searches, and design of experiments.
