The seminar provides an overview of current methods for designing and verifying the operational stability of cables. Our colleague Dr. Fabio Schneider-Jung gives lectures on the topics of »Load Data Analysis for Cables for Comparative Operational Stability Assessment« and »Wöhler Curves for Predicting the Service Life of Cables«.

Our experts from the »Mathematics for« department will be present with an exhibition booth, showcasing data-driven approaches to product optimization. Dr. Klaus Dreßler will chair two sessions, while Dr. Sascha Feth, Dr. Matthias Burger, and Dr. Timo Biedinger will give presentations on statistical design of experiments and usage-based design.

At Maintenance 2026, we will showcase solutions for Smart Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, RUL models, data-driven maintenance, and contactless torsion monitoring – directly at our booth using the VibDemo demonstrator. In addition, Dr. Benjamin Adrian will give a presentation on how mathematics and data can help plan maintenance activities more effectively and prevent equipment failures.

The 7th Young Researchers Symposium 2026 puts research by doctoral students from Kaiserslautern and Landau in the spotlight – short, sharp, and engaging instead of long and dry. Join us on October 15, 2026, at the Fraunhofer Center in Kaiserslautern! Awards go to the best presentations, posters, and abstracts. For the first time, a transfer prize is also presented.

The Smart Process Manufacturing Congress 2026 brings together experts to present solution- and practice-oriented case studies from the chemical and process industries and to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the industry’s digital transformation. Our expert, Dr. David Mogalle from the »Optimization« division, will be speaking at the event on agent-based AI for model-based process design.

We look back on 30 years of applied research at Fraunhofer ITWM and invite you to join us for a scientific exchange. Each session includes a presentation on the topics of research, transfer, and industry.

On October 22 and 23, 2026, the workshop »Mathematical Methods in Process Engineering”« takes place at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics in Kaiserslautern. International experts from academia and industry present the latest findings on the digitalization of processes in industrial applications.

This year’s symposium features 21 technical presentations on innovative developments in the nonwovens industry, focusing on energy efficiency, the circular economy, sustainability, and the increasing use of simulations along the value chain. Colleagues from the »Processes and Materials« department will be present at the event with a booth.

The »Foam Expo Europe 2026« brings together experts from industry and research to discuss innovations in the field of engineering foams. Our expert Dr. Dariusz Niedziela from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« is on site to present our latest research findings as well as our simulation tools »FOAM« and »FeelMath«.

Participants will acquire the ability to successfully apply machine learning with quantum computers. To this end, numerous current methods will be presented that will enable them to respond to future hardware advances and independently develop new QML algorithms.
