The Future Computing Workshop 2026 at HLRS focuses on the latest developments in high-performance computing (HPC) and the associated future prospects. In light of flattening scaling laws, heterogeneous architectures, specialized accelerators, and neuromorphic systems are increasingly coming to the fore, promising significant performance gains and energy savings, though they currently still require further development. The workshop brings together hardware manufacturers, software developers, and researchers from industry, academia, and data centers to discuss current trends, exchange experiences, and initiate potential collaborations. Our experts Dr. Jens Krüger and Dr. Franz-Josef Pfreundt from the »High Performance Computing« department are on site to present the talk »The STX Processor – Cost and Energy Efficient HPC«.

Our experts Dr. Sebastian Emmerich and Dr. Johannes Schwank from the »Mathematics for Vehicles, Systems, and Production« division are on site as co-exhibitors at the IPG booth, showcasing the exhibits »VMC« and »Digital Environmental Data«.

The EU/ME meeting takes place at our institute and highlights innovative optimization methods at the interface of metaheuristics and quantum-based approaches. The event is divided into quantum conference sessions, EUME conference sessions and a summer academy for PhD students. Researchers and PhD students are invited to submit abstracts on their own research topics.

The aim of this event is to bring together experts from the fields of tire model development, tyre measurement and driving simulation to exchange ideas and present the latest results. The event takes place every six years.
